Powering Up for Bold Futures

The Milwaukee TechForce Training Center is a new education, training and workforce development facility designed to connect individuals to rewarding and in-demand careers in technology fields.  TechForce is founded upon an innovative partnership between the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM), Adult Learning Center (ALC), Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Employ Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and St. Francis of Assisi Parish.  Featuring new classrooms and teaching technology, TechForce is co-located with the ALC to provide direct pathways from ALC’s adult basic education program into the technology-focused programs of MATC, Employ Milwaukee, MPS and other partners.  TechForce is situated in the heart of the city close to public transportation, providing thousands of nearby households and residents from throughout the city with easy access to this new educational opportunity center.  The $1.2 million Milwaukee TechForce Training Center was developed by HACM and funded by a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Capital Fund Education and Training Center Grant.

From Bowling Alleys to the Digital Highway
The site was originally opened in 1926 as the St. Francis Social Center, featuring alleys for the newly popular sport of bowling, a gymnasium, and cafeteria. Today, the building has been transformed to provide new service to the community with state-of-the-art classrooms and technology, interactive common areas, a new entrance, administrative space and improved accessibility.
